There’s a letter for you

To whom it may relieve,

Sometimes, in life, you encounter a point where you see the whole life in front of you taking a wrong turn. You constantly try to steer it in the right direction, but you feel powerless to do so. Your every night is spent fighting your inner demons. Everyday, you struggle to make your way through the crowd that has long lost interest in the light you see at the end of the tunnel. It is after deep contemplation that I have decided to write this to you.

First thing is ‘awesome’, that is what you are. No matter what happens in your life, which path you take, which place you go to and wherever you settle, you are awesome. And no matter what happens in life, it should not take that awesomeness away from you.

Second thing I want to say is that it is all right to feel powerless. Because that is what human beings are. Powerless before the Almighty. It might not seem at first, but this is the most empowering thing in life, the powerlessness before the Almighty. How? Because it means you are not powerless before the people, you are not powerless before the obstacles, you are not powerless before the challenges, you are not powerless before any constraints, you are only powerless before one entity and that is God.

Third thing I want to say to you is that you are not only powerless but also unknowing. Do you know that in your single life, you are more than just one person? When you were a child, your interests were somewhat different, you thought differently and above all, your perspective on things was quite different. It went through several iterations throughout your life. The decisions you take today are for yourself, but not exactly for yourself that you are now, but for yourself that you will be 20, 30 and 50 years from now. You are unknowledgeable about the perspectives and preferences of your future self, and thus are not in the position to be able to make the best decision. But the brighter side is, there is someone who is. After 20 years of your existence (a negligible time compared to a hundred million years — average lifespan of a star), no single person can even remotely feel what you exactly are feeling now, no matter how long they have been with you, because what you are feeling right now is the result of how you have experienced and felt the unique 631,139,040 seconds of your life. The person who understands you the most is you yourself because only you have experienced what you have experienced. But what if I tell you that you can have a friend who fully understands not only the 631,139,040 seconds of your past life experience, but also of your future life experiences? Delightfully, that friend exists. That friend is an existing and alive entity whom I call Allah. So, when making decisions, ask Him for help that whatever in His knowledge (not yours), is ultimately best for you, happens for you. During that, forget what you know and forget the limits of your power, and leave that to be taken care of by Him.

Fourth thing I want to tell you is that you are not powerless. I want to re-iterate to you that except God, you are not powerless in front of anything. So never let this thought ever come in your mind that you have lost control of your life, or that one wrong turn is going to ruin rest of your life. There are more than one paths to a summit, and there are more than one summits with that majestic view that makes you feel in awe of life. You are in control of your life, and it is you who are responsible to make the best out of your circumstances. Never let challenges make you forget the best of you. Never stop dreaming and never stop believing that they can indeed turn true. Pessimism is abundant and worthless; optimism is rare and precious. The abundance of their views will make you doubt yourself. At the raft you are building alone, people will laugh and following the trend might seem necessary for survival. But let me assure you, what you believe in is too precious to be forgotten; what you carry in you is far too precious to be let go of.

Last thing I want to tell you is that life is beautiful. Things will happen that will disable you to see that beauty. Stars will no longer hold the charm for you and the rainbows will lose all their colors. This will happen because this is natural. Life is nothing but a contrast. Without grief, there is no joy. When these emotions knock at your door, do not resist, rather embody them. Use them as a fuel to burn that fire that will make you rise from the ashes. And when you have gotten the scars, they will have to leave and you again must not resist. The scars will react with the stars and that once again will bring back the lost charm. Till the time comes, keep on believing. You are not alone and I wrote this for you.
